What Is TENCEL™ (Lyocell)?
TENCEL™ is a trademarked fiber brand developed by Lenzing AG. It belongs to the Lyocell category and is made from wood pulp, especially eucalyptus. Produced through a closed-loop process, this fiber is known for its eco-friendly, biodegradable properties, silky softness, natural sheen, and moisture-regulating ability. Thanks to its durability and skin-friendly properties, TENCEL™ fiber gives the rug a luxurious feel and long-lasting performance. Afghan Patterns and Uşak Tradition
The Kabil Collection takes inspiration from the rich motifs of traditional Afghan rug art. Afghan patterns are known for their central medallions, geometric roses, and densely woven borders, each reflecting a deep-rooted weaving culture. Uşak, meanwhile, has been recognized for centuries as one of Türkiye’s oldest rug-weaving centers, dating back to the Ottoman era. These rich Afghan motifs are brought into modern living spaces through handcraftsmanship on special looms, combined with Uşak’s long-standing weaving tradition, bringing together authentic character and contemporary elegance.

How Do You Clean a TENCEL™ Rug?
Kabil Collection TENCEL™ (Lyocell) rugs should only be washed by professional rug-cleaning companies. Because of TENCEL™ fiber’s silky texture, washing at home or cleaning with plenty of water is not recommended. For daily care, use a vacuum cleaner with low suction to help preserve the rug’s texture, colors, and natural sheen for longer.

Protect Its Elegance
To preserve the original splendor and silky texture of Carpetdocia’s handwoven creations made with natural fibers—which add value to your living space—for generations, a careful care routine is essential.
Immediate Action and Liquid Spills
When a liquid spills, timing is critical. Using a clean, slightly damp cloth, blot the liquid gently from the surface without rubbing. Always work in the direction of the rug’s pile (the natural direction in which the fibers lie). Rubbing can damage the shape of delicate fibers such as TENCEL™ and viscose. If in doubt, stop immediately.
Routine Care and Light Balance
For your weekly cleaning routine, always use a vacuum cleaner with low suction. High-powered upright vacuums and stiff brushes can damage the natural structure of handwoven yarns. To balance how natural yarns react to light and prevent uneven changes in color (fading), we recommend rotating your rug every 2 to 6 months.
Expert Care (Professional Cleaning)
Fine textures such as handwoven fibers, TENCEL™, viscose, and New Zealand wool should not come into contact with household chemical cleaners. These products can irreversibly damage the rug’s silky sheen and structural integrity. For a thorough clean, seek help only from professional rug care centers specializing in natural fibers.
Washing Instructions
Due to their construction, the exceptional pieces in Carpetdocia collections are not suitable for machine washing. (Only our specific models explicitly marked “Washable” in their names can be washed in household machines on a low-temperature, delicate cycle.)
