What Is a Jute / Braided Rug?
Jute is a natural, durable, and eco-friendly plant fiber obtained from the stems of the jute plant (Corchorus). As one of the most widely produced natural fibers after cotton, jute is a sustainable choice thanks to its biodegradable and renewable properties. A braided rug is a type of flatweave rug with no pile, made by braiding or weaving these natural fibers. Jute braided rugs are known for their earthy, natural look, durable construction, and warm texture, and are especially popular in natural, bohemian, and modern interiors.
What Is Knit Weaving?
Knit weaving is a special weaving technique in which jute fibers are interlaced to create a textured surface with a pronounced pattern. Unlike classic flat jute rugs, the braided texture adds depth and a handmade character to the surface. In the Knit Jute Series, each design is crafted with a different braided texture to give your space a distinctive, natural feel.

How Do You Clean a Jute Braided Rug?
Jute braided rugs should be cleaned regularly with a vacuum cleaner set to low suction. For stains, spot-clean with a slightly damp (not wet) cloth; however, jute is sensitive to water, so never soak the rug, wash it with a lot of water, or put it in the washing machine. Dry cleaning is recommended for deep cleaning. Keeping the rug out of damp environments helps preserve its natural texture and shape for longer.

Protect Its Elegance
To preserve the original splendor and silky texture of Carpetdocia’s handwoven creations made with natural fibers—which add value to your living space—for generations, a careful care routine is essential.
Immediate Action and Liquid Spills
When a liquid spills, timing is critical. Using a clean, slightly damp cloth, blot the liquid gently from the surface without rubbing. Always work in the direction of the rug’s pile (the natural direction in which the fibers lie). Rubbing can damage the shape of delicate fibers such as TENCEL™ and viscose. If in doubt, stop immediately.
Routine Care and Light Balance
For your weekly cleaning routine, always use a vacuum cleaner with low suction. High-powered upright vacuums and stiff brushes can damage the natural structure of handwoven yarns. To balance how natural yarns react to light and prevent uneven changes in color (fading), we recommend rotating your rug every 2 to 6 months.
Expert Care (Professional Cleaning)
Fine textures such as handwoven fibers, TENCEL™, viscose, and New Zealand wool should not come into contact with household chemical cleaners. These products can irreversibly damage the rug’s silky sheen and structural integrity. For a thorough clean, seek help only from professional rug care centers specializing in natural fibers.

Due to their construction, the exceptional pieces in Carpetdocia collections are not suitable for machine washing. (Only our specific models explicitly marked “Washable” in their names can be washed in household machines on a low-temperature, delicate cycle.)
