Katmandu Series 100% New Zealand Wool Mélange-Textured Handwoven Lounge and Living Room Rug BROWN

Katmandu Handwoven Wool Rug — Brown (Brown)
Katmandu is a quiet, timeless foundation where 100% New Zealand wool meets the flatweave technique. The blend of wool fibers spun in different tones creates a depth on the surface that a single color cannot provide: a calm sense of unity from a distance, and a subtle mélange texture up close. It highlights the furniture in the living room without imposing itself. This variant is a deep brown in earthy and tobacco tones (brown).
New Zealand Wool
With its long fibers and naturally high luster, New Zealand wool is among the most highly regarded materials in rugmaking worldwide. The fiber’s natural elasticity helps the rug retain its shape for years; its hand is soft, while its presence is refined and substantial.
Material and Construction
- Material: 100% New Zealand Wool
- Weave: Handwoven
- Pile Structure: Flatweave
- Weight per M²: 1800 g
- Color: Brown
What Makes Katmandu Different
Each rug is woven individually by artisans on a loom. The mélange surface is created not with dye, but by blending the fibers’ natural tones — which is why it comes alive in the light and gains character with age. Its pile-free construction is slim and disciplined; it causes no problems beneath doors and retains its shape under heavy use with its 1800 g/m² structure.
Care
Regular vacuuming is sufficient; in the event of spills, absorb the liquid promptly with a dry cloth. Deep cleaning should be entrusted only to a professional rug-cleaning service.
Dimensions
The Katmandu handwoven wool rug is available in the following standard sizes:
- 100 x 200 cm
- 100 x 300 cm
- 160 x 230 cm

Protect Your Rug’s Elegance
A careful care routine should be adopted to preserve the original splendor and silky texture of Carpetdocia’s handwoven, natural-fiber creations—pieces that add value to your living space—for generations to come.
Immediate Action and Liquid Spills
When a liquid is spilled, timing is the most critical factor. Using a clean, slightly damp cloth, remove the liquid from the surface by gently blotting only—never rub. Always work in the direction of the rug’s pile (the natural direction in which the fibers lie). Rubbing can damage the structure of delicate fibers such as TENCEL™ and viscose. If in doubt, stop immediately.
Routine Care and Light Balance
For your weekly cleaning routine, always use vacuum cleaners with low suction power. High-powered upright vacuums and stiff brushes can damage the natural structure of handwoven yarns. To balance the natural fibers’ reaction to light and prevent uneven color changes (fading), we recommend changing the direction of your rug every 2 to 6 months.
Expert Care (Professional Cleaning)
Delicate materials such as handwoven fibers, TENCEL™, viscose, and New Zealand wool should not come into contact with household chemical cleaners. These products can irreversibly damage the rug’s silky sheen and structural integrity. For deep cleaning, seek assistance only from professional rug-care centers specializing in natural fibers.
Washing Instructions
The delicate pieces in the Carpetdocia collections are not suitable for machine washing due to their construction. (Only specific models clearly marked “Washable” in their names may be washed in household machines using a low-temperature, delicate cycle.)
